Essential Energy reported it recently appointed Ben Williams as regional manager to its northern operations, which includes the New England, North West and Orana areas.
Mr Williams was previously part of the northern regional management team and held the position of area manager for Macquarie, which involved looking after depots in Dubbo, Mudgee, Narromine and Wellington.
A familiar face as part of that team, the new regional manager's climb to promotion began in the same territory.
Mr Williams is a fully-qualified power line worker, having completed his apprenticeship with an Essential Energy predecessor organisation at Dubbo.
He also worked as a resource supervisor at Narromine and operational performance manager.
"I am very excited to have been appointed to the role and am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that come with it," Mr Williams said.
"Our focus will remain on ensuring a safe, reliable and sustainable power network for local communities through strategically planned network upgrades, maintenance and construction."
While Dubbo-based, the regional manager will regularly travel to Essential Energy's 26 depots in the northern region and meet with stakeholders and customers.
"The northern region is large and diverse, so one of my first priorities has been to visit our depots to meet with local field crews and discuss the network and the energy needs of our communities," Mr Williams said.
He replaces former regional manager Matt Patterson.
Essential Energy manages Australia's largest electricity network, spanning 95 per cent of New South Wales' land mass, and supplies power to more than 147,000 households and businesses in the northern region.
