Entry fees from the second Dubbo Stampede produced the donation that will meet future needs of the RFDS Dubbo Base off Cooreena Road.

Dubbo Stampede representatives inspected the base in the lead-up to the event last weekend, with Dubbo Support Group president Terry Clark their guide.

The group included Dubbo Stampede committee president Bonnie Tratt who revealed how "our charity for 2013" was selected.

"One of the main reasons we chose the RFDS was that the money will stay with the Dubbo base," she said.

About 4000 people headed to Taronga Western Plains Zoo for this year's Dubbo Stampede, also called "A Running Festival for Everyone".

Many came from the outer Western region that looks to the RFDS for emergency, primary and dental health care.

The crowd included about 2700 registered runners, more than 1000 spectators and about 100 hard-working volunteers.

The event included runs of 5.5, 10 and 21.1 kilometres.

"All sorts of race and crowd records were broken as part of a great Father's Day event at Taronga Western Plains Zoo," Ms Tratt said.

"The number of participants and spectators was nearly double that of the first event in 2012 and we have been overwhelmed by the response and the positive feedback we've received."

Ms Tratt reported of Claudia Morrison setting a new female record in winning the 5.5-kilometre Dingo Dash while Tristan Harrison again took out the male 5.5-kilometre race in a time just outside his 2012 record.

Mitchell Williamson took almost three minutes off the 10-kilometre Cheetah Chase race record and Elizabeth Simpson also broke the female record in her 10-kilometre win.

Dubbo runner Jane Fardell again won the Zebra Zoom Half Marathon, to set a new course record and win the event for the second year.

In the male Zebra Zoom Half Marathon, Mitch Dean set a cracking time of 69 minutes, beating the previous race record by almost 10 minutes.

The 14-member Dubbo Stampede Committee will soon begin planning for the 2014 event.
