Being held at the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club on September 27, the event is the first card promoted by Bathurst Panthers five-eighth Matt Rose.
Rose's brother George and professional boxer Lauryn Eagle were in Dubbo yesterday to promote the card, which will see Eagle in action for the first time outside of a metropolitan area.
The main event on the program will feature Orange's Sam Ah-See, who will be out to continue his rise through the Australian boxing ranks while Olympians Damien Hooper and Cameron Hammond will feature, as will Dubbo CYMS captain-coach Joe Williams.
"I'm really excited about the event we are putting on and to have this quality of night in a country area should be great," Matt Rose said.
"Albert Kelly from the Cronulla Sharks will be attending, as will Nathan Merritt from Souths and a few others, and we will have US hip-hop group Naughty By Nature in the crowd and also performing at the after-party at the Amaroo Hotel."
While Manly cult figure 'Gorgeous' George Rose isn't keen on getting into the ring, the opposite can be said for Eagle.
The 25-year-old has had 10 professional fights for a record of six wins, three losses and a draw, but hasn’t had a bout since January.
She is about to start a short, sharp training routine to get herself prepared for a busy period which will also feature some much bigger fights.
“I’m fighting on the Anthony Mundine-Shane Mosley undercard in October, then possibly another card in November and then I have the Fight For Life charity event in New Zealand in December,” she said.
“This fight in Dubbo will be good because it’s my first fight since January.
“I’ve got a little exhibition on Thursday but it will be my first proper fight and it’s the starting point to those other fights so it’s really important.
“This will also be the first time I’ve fought in Australia outside of Sydney and Brisbane so I’m looking forward to it.”
Despite his brother’s best efforts, George Rose believes it will take a miracle to get him in the ring.
He hopes that his Manly side will be deep into an NRL finals campaign at the time, but even so boxing is not something he’s keen to take on.
“Maybe if they were one-minute rounds or something,” he joked.
“Matt has been trying to talk me into having a fight for a while now but I don’t think it’s really my calling.
“I’ll be there watching for sure though. It should be a great night and I love boxing, I’m just not that keen to get in there and give it a go myself.”
