Police uncovered a number of stolen goods including a Macaw parrot worth $10,000.
Acting on information received from the public and their own investigation and surveillance, police expected to lay charges.
They moved onto known persons following break ins at Kennard and Arthur streets in Wellington earlier this week.
"Simultaneous search warrants were issued on houses in Gisborne and Maxwell streets in Wellington and Dalton street in Orange and our work uncovered a large amount of stolen goods," Wellington Senior Sergeant Simon Magdwick said.
"The exotic Macaw parrot was one of the items stolen along with a lawnmower, a flat screen TV and smart phones.
"It was fabulous to see the child reunited with his pet," the senior sergeant said.
Police launched a targeted surveillance operation in Wellington where it intercepted a truck which was loaded with the stolen goods heading east on the Mitchell Highway.
Detectives from Dubbo and Wellington stopped the truck which they observed leaving the town.
Police have questioned two men aged 26 and 23 and a 23-year-old woman who assisted them with their inquiries in Wellington on Tuesday afternoon.
"Police expect charges to be laid at anytime soon," the senior sergeant said .
"I would like to thank the Dubbo and Orange police for their assistance and locally Tom Cambourn -led our operation and his smart policing reaped rewards for the community," he said.
