ALTHOUGH small, the significance of the Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony held in Victoria Park yesterday could be seen on the faces of about 20 ex-servicemen that attended to commemorate the conflict they fought in.

About 60 people including Member for Dubbo Troy Grant attended the solemn ceremony in favourable Sunday weather conditions to show support for local Vietnam veterans.
Local veterans stood to attention in two lines beside the Vietnam War memorial in Victoria Park during the ceremony.
The ceremony was led by Dubbo and Far West Region Vietnam Veterans Association president Bert Eade.
Mr Eade and Dubbo and Far West Region Vietnam Veterans Association vice-president Greg Salmon laid a wreath during the ceremony to remember fallen comrades.
The ex-servicemen that took part were dismissed after it had ended by Dubbo RSL Sub-Branch president Tom Gray.
Mr Eade said he was happy with the level of support from the community at the ceremony.
"We expected about 60 so that isn't too bad," he said.
"It is good to see the public come and remember with us, it is very good."
After the ceremony veterans and their families enjoyed each other's company at the Dubbo and Far West Region Vietnam Veterans Association headquarters on the corner of Palmer and High streets.
Mr Eade said the football season would probably be the topic conversation rather than old war stories among local veterans.
"It will be a nice light lunch with family and friends," he said.
