The police have broadcast widely and often the risks taken by some drivers during the helter-skelter of getting back to home base.
There are significant penalties for those who are caught breaking these laws [massive fines and loss of license] but yet there are some who find their patience deserts them and they put their family and others at risk.
Another point worthy of note is the school term starts on Monday and thus 40 kilometre an hour speed zones outside schools will be enforced again. Some schools might have a pupil free day on Monday but it is worth posting this reminder for caution around school precincts.
Many of the schools at Dubbo, as well as some surrounding communities, have flashing lights to warn drivers of the proximity of a school zone, while some crossings are also manned by school crossing supervisors. There are plenty of methods to warning the public of where they are in relation to schools, but sometimes, like on the open roads, a few drivers tend to take a selfish approach and only think of themselves and not of others.
So let's spread the word about being road safe this weekend and during the start of school term and let's take a long term view in regard to importance of family and individuals.
Drive safely and arrive in one piece.

THE decision announced on Friday to remove a prohibition on burning of native forest harvesting residue and invasive native scrub for electricity generation is a common sense approach.
Apparently NSW is the only state in Australia with such a prohibition.
Sometimes the application of common sense isn't all that common.
