And at age 76, the Dubbo cycling veteran plans to again make the almost 7200 kilometres trek across the country in 64 days and will become the oldest cyclist to do so.
Elliott will begin the Big Ride, organised by Bike for Bibles, on June 30, arriving in Sydney on September 1.
The Bible Society is this year raising money for literacy in Latin America, where more than 35 million people are considered illiterate and another 73 million are functionally illiterate.
Elliott, along with 25 other cyclists, aims to raise $15,500 for the charity, as it centres on teaching disadvantaged people to read.
The cyclists vary in ages and come from other parts of Australia, New Zealand and even Italy.
"I've done the track before and I know what to expect," Elliott said.
"At the moment I ride about 400 kilometres a week but will have to spend more time on the bike for the next few weeks."
Elliott said he would "bet money" on he being the eldest cyclist riding from Broome (via Perth) to Sydney, with the second-eldest expected to be in their 50s or 60s.
Money will also be raised to provide resources and bibles for Indigenous Australians and Bibles for Australian Defence Force personnel, emergency service workers and volunteers, Australian school kids, a DVD Bible format for Australia's deaf community and Bible/resources for chaplaincy work. "My personal expenses for the ride will be $4745 plus airfares from Dubbo via Sydney to Broome. I am happy to pay this for the opportunity to participate.
"In 2000, I rode from Perth to Sydney. Since then, I have wanted to ride from Darwin to Melbourne.
"This ride from Broome is the next best thing, and at age 76, I can't see me doing the Darwin to Melbourne ride if it was ever organised," Elliott said.
Since the first Bikes for Bibles ride from Sydney to Melbourne in December 1984, over $13 million has been raised for various projects, focused on teaching people to read.
