Ms Noot, 23, has lived in the Orana region for only a short time and thought she’d give the competition a go because of her love for farming.
The city’s latest showgirl said she has a passion for rural and regional Australia and wishes to advance the cause of farming.
Originally from Sydney, Ms Noot currently lives in Trangie but is making the move to Dubbo in the coming weeks.
“I was incredibly excited and surprised, and very flattered, that my name was picked as this year’s Dubbo Showgirl,” Ms Noot said.
“I never go into anything expecting to win and I was shocked it turned out the way it did.”
The announcement was made at a special cocktail party in the Starlight room at the Dubbo RSL Club on Saturday night.
During the day, Ms Noot along with runner-up Rebecca Griffiths, Ali Langbien, Hayley Burge, Jessica Irvin and Sarah McFetridge, were interviewed by a panel of judges at the Dubbo RSL on Saturday about why they applied for the competition.
The three judges were Jasmine Nixon (2012 Land Sydney Royal Showgirl from Crookwell), Kristine Moore and Paul Spargo. The judges also asked the women what their ambitions were for the future.
“I believe there are incredible, limitless opportunities for farming and I’m incredibly passionate about it,” Ms Noot said.
“During the interview process, I was nervous but I believe I gave a good impression to the judges.”
She said the cocktail party had a really good turn out at the Dubbo RSL.
Along with being the Dubbo Showgirl, Ms Noot was also made an honorary member of the Dubbo Show Society and will help out with any functions during the next 12 months.
She will continue to be involved with the Macquarie Matrons (for which she is treasurer) and will use the showgirl competition as a platform to talk to farmers about what issues are important to them as well as learning more about farming.
“I’m very excited at what the future will bring. I’m eager to get involved in the community,” she said.
Ms Noot currently works as a secretarial assistant for Nardoo Family Investments in Narromine.
