The LAC rolled out their plans for a weekend that will see Dubbo’s population swell by up to 15,000 people.
Apex Oval will also attract about 4000 visitors Saturday night for the Rugby League Group 11 All Stars football clash.
Inspector Brad Johnston said yesterday, it would be a big weekend for the city with police presence increasing from today.
Three sniffer dogs and two general purpose dogs as well as mounted police would patrol the showground and CBD. He said police would focus on enforcing drug and alcohol laws but hoped residents and vistors would do the right thing.
He said anyone who turned up at the main gate of the showground intoxicated would be immediately turned away.
Traffic and highway patrols would also be increased with police monitoring all the major highways to ensure public road safety.
Inspector Johnston encouraged concertgoers to be extra vigilant with their personal items.
“We want to stress to people to be security conscious and be aware of possible theft from vehicles,” he said.
“We will be increasing our patrols around the city’s caravan parks, hotels and motels, as well as car parks to deter theft.”
Police will monitor behaviour in the central business district after the concert finishes on Saturday night.
He said police expected hospitality venues to be inundated with partygoers in Talbragar and Macqaurie streets.
“We want to promote Dubbo as a good place to visit but we won’t tolerate offensive behaviour or other people threatening the safety of others; we also remind people the concert is an all ages event,” he said.
