STATE government agricultural high schools will receive strong support from Western Division Councils following an announcement of a cut to their funding.

The division will make representation to the minister for education after delegates at their conference in Nyngan this week were told to expect a cut to funding for Yanco, Farrer and Tocal High Schools.
Delegates from the 13 member councils spoke strongly against the funding cuts of the unique schools which provided an opportunity for western students to attend a boarding school in an agricultural environment.
More than 200 students attending Yanco are from isolated families who a live vast distance from schools and boarding is the only alternative.
The conference voted to send a delegation to the minister for education and the minister for western NSW, through the local member for Murray Darling John Williams.
Mayors, general managers and councillors from the western division listened to a number of speakers including the panel members of the Independent Local Government Review, local government minister Don Page and Member for Barwon and Minister for Western NSW Kevin Humphries.
Seventy delegates attended the conference and passed 30 motions for action during the next 12 months.
A $5000 donation to the Royal Far West was made during the conference to support the organisations' work with children and families in the region.
Delegates had the opportunity to inspect the Royal Far West Mobile Care Van which was at Nyngan on Sunday evening.
