Toyota Australia’s executive vice president Dave Buckner said the importance of the award should not be underestimated - at either a national or a local level.
The national award capped a fine year for the Dubbo Toyota dealership managed by David Hayes and his team.
It also won its 14th President’s Award this year - one of only eight president’s awards shared between all of the 62 NSW Toyota dealers.
Dubbo City Toyota was also named 2011 Rural Dealer of the Year from the 38 rural dealers. Mr Buckner said every aspect of the business must excel before a president’s award is bestowed and the scrutiny was even greater when awarding the national dealership honour.
He said only two other dealerships of the 240 in Australia held 13 or more president’s awards.
“Toyota Australia is extremely proud of you,” he said. Dealer principal David Hayes said it gave him a great deal of pleasure to accept the award on behalf of the 62 staff working for the Dubbo and Gilgandra Toyota dealerships.
“I want to pay tribute to the whole team,” Mr Hayes said.
“I also want to extend a big thank you to the customers for your loyalty and business.”
Mr Hayes said he was also particularly proud to receive the Toyota Institute award, which recognises the best staff training and development program in the eastern zone of Australia.
“I just want to say to the Dubbo community, we are committed to this level of excellence and will strive to do so tomorrow, next month and over the next few years,” he said. Dubbo City Toyota won its first Australian Dealer of the Year award in 1995 under dealer principal Mark Betar.
