Teenager stabbed at Apollo Estate

APOLLO Estate was the focus of police attention again yesterday when officers from the Orana Local Area Command (LAC) converged on a house in Braun Avenue after reports of an alleged stabbing.

Around 8.50am police responded to the call with about six police cars arriving outside the premises, while neighbouring residents watched on from the street.

The youth has been charged with assault, armed with intent, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, with a court date yet to be fixed.

After a weekend of alcohol-fuelled violence in the troubled estate, police have increased patrols in and around the CBD, Apollo estate and West Dubbo.

Extra police will be seen in and around the city over the next few days.

The increased police presence has been welcomed by members of the public, particularly local shop keepers, who were pleased to see more police patrolling the streets.
