Walgett experienced a flood peak of 11.12 metres on Tuesday night, closing part of Wee Waa Street and Brewon Road.
The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) Macquarie Region yesterday reported Boorooma was next in line to experience the after-effects of ex-topical cyclone Oswald. Early in the morning the river was steady at Mungindi, falling at Mogil Mogil and Collarenebri, and rising at Boorooma and Brewarrina. The SES has advised that people working or camping along the Barwon River downstream of Walgett must continue to monitor river heights and should have already moved to higher ground.
