ONE would have to think that Dubbo indoor cricketers should adopt the number three as their own lucky number following tremendous performances by the Dubbo young guns at the National Junior Championships played in Brisbane.

The Dubbo boys were part of the NSW Cyclones teams that competed in three grades at the tournament.
The under-12s, 14s and 16s qualified for the semi-finals in each of the grades, a fantastic feat, a feat that was only equalled by one state, that being Queensland, the accepted dominant state in indoor cricket in Australia.
While being ousted in the semi-finals in the 16s (by six runs) and the 14s (by one run), our mighty 12s team went one step further, collecting the champions trophies after a dominant performance in the grand final and throughout the week.
In the 14s Dubbo had Wade Burrowes, Jack Baker and Liam Manning, in the 16s Dan Fisher, Sean Mason, Corey Suckling, Ben Patterson, Will Wolter and Zac Warwick whilst in the combined 18s team there were Dan French and Jacob Hill.
The victorious 12s team contained three of Dubbo’s finest, captain Marty Jeffrey along with all-rounders Henry Railz and Charlie Kempston. A huge effort by all.
Local Dubbo indoor cricket stalwart Alwyn Edwards who was coach of the team was full of praise for his young hotshots highlighting how the team had dominated throughout the week, winning six of the seven round games against the best in the nation, dropping just the one game to South Australia in the last round.
Edwards and manager Mick Jeffrey are to be applauded for the role they played in the victory for the team, a week of hard work with a justified result, congratulations.
The 12s defeated South Australia Black 135-56 in the grand final. After finishing their round matches on top of the table with only one loss, NSW defeated Victoria 81-79 in the major semi-final to book a place in the grand final.
The Country boys performed well against all states with wins over North Queensland 87-39, South East Queensland 134-75, ACT 73-57, Victoria 97-70, South Australia Red 92-66 and the NSW Metro Blues 147-62.
The Cyclones had one loss in their round matches, to South Australia Black 96-74 which was reversed in the grand final when the Country boys defeated all other state teams at the Nationals.
The three Dubbo boys in the 12s all gave a great account of themselves with captain Marty Jeffrey scoring 117 runs and taking 13 wickets and 15 stumpings for the tournament and being voted second in player of the tournament by match officials.
Henry Railz scored 138 runs for the carnival and took eight wickets, while Charlie Kempston scored 80 runs and also took eight wickets.
