Two competition points are up for grabs, as are bragging rights between the blue and green sides of Dubbo, but also the Raiders will be doing their bit to help the local community. The club will host a charity day, raising funds for the Give Me Five For Kids appeal.
Give Me Five For Kids is a national annual fundraiser which runs for the entire month of June.
Raiders first grade manager Graham Bennett said the day is a chance to help out a local cause.
“During the day we hope to proudly raise funds for our Dubbo Base Hospital children’s ward to buy much needed medical equipment that assists in helping seriously ill children,” he said.
“The big key, and main reason we as a club have chosen this charity is that money that is raised locally stays local.
“Our club has organised four local businesses that have agreed to purchase a set of jumpers made specifically for this day with the Give Me Five For Kids logo shown prominently on the front of the jersey.
“The first grade team will wear these jumpers and after the game the Corcoran Family from Kleen-N-Ezy Laundrette have agreed to wash them before Graham Board auctions them off at the South Dubbo Tavern during our club presentations.”
“We will also be collecting gold coin donations on the day for the cause. The four jumper sponsors for this day are Westrac, Geoff Richards Panel Beating , Scott’s Parts Plus and Dubbo Autoglass.”
Sunday will also be the day the Macquarie club hosts its sponsors day in the rugby clubhouse, and that will double as a reunion of Dubbo Macquarie teams from 1975-1978.
Players like Marshall Peachey, Fred Harvey, Colin Young, Kimball Riley, Jacko Pearce, Noel Sing and Ross McDermott will all be there and any players from that era are encouraged to ring McDermott on his mobile 0429 441 838 for more
