Prop Kinni Tanaulucavu and centre Quentin Dickinson both left the field with ankle injuries while captain-coach Jade Williams missed the match to rest some niggles ahead of a busy phase of club and representative football.
Centre John Grey managed to score four tries but is still battling a persistent neck problem which is being constantly monitored.
A day after rain combined with rugby union tore up the cricket pitch area of the ground the Raiders were relentless, scoring 12 tries to one in a comprehensive performance to remain unbeaten after seven rounds.
The first of the four-pointers came in the seventh minute when Etuate Gusuivalu crossed before the competition leaders went on a scoring spree, crossing the line on five consecutive sets between the 15th and 24th minute of the match to lead 34-0.
That was extended to 38-0 when winger Viliame Cagibula scored the second of his hat-trick before Cobar scored their only points of the day through a converted try from centre Lasaro Turagadrall in the 36th minute.
At half-time Williams challenged the Raiders to keep the visitors scoreless in the second half and they achieved that while adding a further five tries of their own to finish 64-6 victors.
Macquarie’s 12 tries came courtesy of just five players with Grey’s four and Cagibula’s three complemented by doubles from winger Ash Widders and second-rower Moses Manu while Gusuivalu finished with one.
After the match Williams admitted to being pleased with the team’s performance, especially the handling in poor conditions.
“I thought we played good, simple footy today and given the condition of the ground we didn’t make too many mistakes,” he said.
“We normally make more mistakes than that in dry conditions so to do it in the wet was good.
“I told the boys at half-time that I didn’t want them (Cobar) to score again and we managed to do that, and while we didn’t score as much I am still happy.
“Next week against CYMS will be a big game but we couldn’t be in a better position.”
Cobar coach Aaron Davey said constant handling errors had let his team down but added he couldn’t question the effort of his players.
“We are letting ourselves down every week with errors and it happened again today,” he said.
“You can’t win football without the ball in your hands and we are turning it over too much.
“It’s hard to turn attitudes around when they get five tries in a row and we don’t get our hands on the ball.
“Obviously we’ve still got plenty to work on, but I can’t flog the boys too much, they are trying every week.”
