The new Dubbo Crown Lands Business Centre at 45 Wingewarra Street is expected to be operational within a couple of months.
It will be run by 17 workers, eight of them Dubbo-based staff of the Crown Lands Division of NSW Trade and Investment with "knowledge and experience" to share, reports new centre manager Corinne Shields.
Five business service officer positions at the new centre are currently up for grabs through Jobs NSW.
"We will continue to recruit until the structure is formed," Ms Shields said yesterday.
The division is undergoing restructuring that will result in the formation of business centres at Dubbo, Newcastle and Grafton, each with different duties.
Ms Shields said the Dubbo centre's administrative role reflected the centralising of work previously carried out by district offices.
"The Dubbo business centre will undertake the administrative functions of reserve trust appointments, reserve administration, perpetual lease conversions, licence applications and transfers and conveyancing searches for the whole of the state," she said.
Crown land accounts for 42 per cent of NSW and is used for multiple purposes including sport, recreation, tourism, commerce and agriculture.
Most Crown land is held under lease or licence.
"For example most properties out in the western division are held under western land lease," Ms Shields said.
Parcels of Crown land set aside for community use are managed by reserve trusts.
The executive general manager for Crown Lands Alison Stone and Dubbo MP Troy Grant joined Ms Shields yesterday in alerting the community to the impending formation of the new business centre offering job opportunities.
Mr Grant said it was an example of the state government's commitment to decentralisation.
"We've already got State Water here and now Crown Lands as well," Mr Grant said.
"This is exciting times and we are again delivering on what we said we would do."
