The CountryLink Elvis Express Train pulled into Parkes late yesterday afternoon in time for its lively and excited passengers to attend the Transtank Miss Priscilla Dinner and watch Elvis tribute artists and movies under the stars.
The Parkes Elvis Festival 2013 kicked off on Wednesday and will run until Sunday.
Its highlights include the Northparkes Mines Elvis Street Parade tomorrow that gets Dubbo MP Troy Grant "all shook up".
Yesterday the MP announced that the NSW Nationals would again sponsor a float in the parade from 10am and he was shopping for an outfit.
"I really enjoyed the experience last year and I'm truly looking forward to this year's festival, especially with its Hawaiian theme," he said.
"The Nationals will once again be having a float in the street parade and I have been looking hard to find the perfect shirt for the event."
Mr Grant said the festival had made Parkes an important tourist destination and injected "millions into the economy".
He said accommodation in Parkes was booked out months ago with some festival participants staying in neighbouring communities.
The train filled with Elvis and Priscilla look-alikes arrived a day earlier this year to give them more time at the festival.
