Ambulance Service of NSW Ambulance Acting Commissioner, Mike Willis said there were some clear trends in what both services expected to see, particularly a high degree of risk-taking and alcohol-related violence.
He added the New Year's Eve tradition of drinking large quantities of alcohol was a cause for serious concern.
"Excessive alcohol intake to the point of unconsciousness is a drug overdose which is life threatening," he said.
