A 20-YEAR-OLD man will continue working with the Magistrate's Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) drug and alcohol diversion program after pleading guilty to three serious offences in Dubbo Local Court.

Angus Grady Caswell faced Magistrate Andrew Eckhold on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, resist police and malicious damage of property. Police allege the offences occurred in Dubbo on September 7.
All charges were adjourned to January 30.
Bail was continued. MERIT provides an opportunity for adult defendants with substance abuse problems to work towards rehabilitation as part of the bail process.
Participants are closely case-managed by the MERIT team and the court receives regular progress reports. Final hearing and sentence generally coincides with the completion of the MERIT program.
