Almost a month ago, Kitoto remained stubborn and refused to leave Dubbo because she did not like the rain, but now News Limited has reported while the Taronga Zoo paddock is being cleaned, Kitoto stays outdoors as the other giraffes happily move into the giraffe house.
"We have to clean the paddock around her," senior giraffe keeper Renae Moss said.
"She's not used to the routine and she's a bit nervous about the house so it's easier if we leave her outside."
But the report said when Kitoto's keepers do get the two-year-old giraffe into the house for the night, they entice her with carrots - her favourite food.
While in Dubbo, Kitoto refused to budge from under a tree because of rain on the day she was meant to be loaded onto a special crate to be driven to Taronga Zoo.
News Limited reported Kitoto was settling in well with Sydney's other giraffes Jimyu, Zaraffa and Nyota.
"She (Kitoto) seems quite fond of Jimyu, our six-year-old male and she's really comfortable with Zarrafa (eight years) - they'll often nuzzle noses together," Ms Moss said.
"Our oldest Nyota (20 years) was actually a bit nervous when Kitoto arrived, but she's good now too."
