Four people have been killed and a fifth is in a critical condition following an accident involving two cars and a truck just outside Bathurst in the NSW central west.

The incident happened on the Great Western Highway at Glanmire, about 9kms outside of Bathurst at 1.40pm.
Three people in one car died. The fourth victim was in the second car, while the driver of that vehicle remains in a critical condition.
The truck driver was uninjured.
The Highway is now closed in both directions between Bathurst and Lithgow and motorists have been told to avoid the area or expect significant delays.
