In attendance will be more than 100 athletes from the netball, rugby league, tennis and lone star squads as well as several members of the golf and soccer programs.
The athletes will train with their academy coaches during the weekend along with attending education sessions to improve their on-field performance. These sessions will include core strength, media skills and speed and agility.
The weekend will conclude with the 2012 FWAS award presentations at the Warren Sporting and Cultural complex on Sunday at 1.20pm.
Academy athletes who have been awarded the Athlete of the Month title throughout 2012 will be recognised, along with the chosen athletes of the year from the individual sport programs.
But the highlight of the presentations will be the announcement of the Sportsmans Warehouse FWAS Athlete of the Year, which honours the most outstanding athlete in the whole academy for 2012.
FWAS Acting Executive Officer Matthew Thompson is looking forward to the weekend and is encouraging the wider community to get behind their local athletes.
"The weekend, as always, should be great for the athletes and the academy," he said.
"The athletes in the academy have had some real success over the past twelve months with many of them competing at a national level.
"The weekend is a great way to recognise the achievements of these athletes in front of their peers.
"It is also provides a great opportunity for the academy to recognise all the volunteers who assist with the programs.
"The Athlete of the Year... was difficult to select, but we will have to wait until Sunday to find out who the winner is."
The FWAS would like to invite parents, volunteers, friends of scholarship holders and interested community members to attend the presentations. Local coaches are also invited to attend the sessions throughout the weekend.
