Local players dominated the Paramount Senior Tennis Tournament in Dubbo last weekend which attracted visitors from throughout New South Wales.
The event consisted of two rounds of the Tennis Seniors NSW Tournament Circuit, one on the Saturday and one on the Sunday.
Glen Armstrong emerged victorious in the open doubles with regular partner Wayne Dickinson on both occasions and teamed up with Kathryn Bermingham to win the mixed doubles on day one.
Day two saw Dickinson and Australian title winner Narelle Follington win against Armstrong and Gail Windsor from Bathurst.
“There was a good roll up of players from all over the countryside including Sydney, the north coast, Wagga, Inverell, Tamworth and quite a few locals,” Armstrong said.
“It wasn’t quite as big as previous years, mainly due to a big tournament in Merimbula only finishing on the Thursday before ours.
“But with the tennis and social activities in the evening I had a ball and wish I could do it every weekend.”
Armstrong said he had not been able to play in seniors tournaments as regularly as he would like to since becoming the publican of the Commercial Hotel.
