The Canterbury Bulldogs have a new small legion of Dubbo fans, after two lucky Daily Liberal readers won general admission membership to the club.
The competition was run in the Daily Liberal in the lead up to a trial match at Apex Oval against the Canberra Raiders.
Kurtis Crisante and Zara Jom said they were thrilled and surprised to win the 2010 season membership which entitles them entry to 10 home games at ANZ stadium along with two away games at ANZ.
“I was absolutely stoked.I didn’t expect to win so I was pretty happy,” Crisante said. They both attended the game at the weekend and were impressed with the atmosphere created by the Dubbo crowd,” Jom said.
“I went with my mates and had a great time,” Crisante said.
“It really was a great thing for Dubbo,” Jom said.
“It was great to see the crowd really get so involved and there was no dramas.”
Only recently becoming interested in rugby league, Jom said she planned to attend as many matches as possible in Sydney this season.
“My old housemate used to be a massive fan so after living with him I got into it,” she said.
“I think there are about 10 home games this season so I am hoping to get down to all of them.
“I’ve got a couple of friends who are Bulldogs fans I could go with.”
Although the Sydney-City Roosters are Crisante’s number one team, he said the Bulldogs were definitely his second favourite in the 16-team competition.
He plays on the wing in the under-14s at St Johns College rugby league team but said he was often down in Sydney and would be able to attend some Bulldogs games.
“My cousin is a mad Dog’s supporter so I will share the membership with him,” he said.
