In the junior divisions Dubbo riders reigned supreme totally dominating the 50cc and 65cc classes.
However the senior Mudgee riders brought their A-game to town and blitzed their categories.
Jorden Yeo was the fastest 65cc rider in the 7 to 10-year-old class leading home Lachlan Colbran and hard-charging Luke Grey.
Dylan Behsman scored a well -earned third place trophy in the under-13s.
Toby Adams showed that the smallest bikes on the circuit could almost clear the 18m table top as he piloted his way to the finish line and comprehensively won the 50cc division.
In the under-16s 85cc class things looked grim for Bradley Rankmore as he finished a distant third in race one. After a pep talk from dad Bradley refocused and went on to win the final two motos to finish in first place overall.
Anticipation was high as the 250cc machines took to the track. Sam Williams and Aaron Rankmore didn’t disappoint the spectators with each rider pushing their limits to the max.
Nathan Cover also mixed it with the young guns and made them work overtime during each moto. After the dust settled Williams had snatched a victory, the 40-year-old Cover came in second and Rankmore was left in third place.
It was a battle of the bike shops in the over-30s category as Dubbo City Motorcycle’s owner and holeshot hero duked it out with Robertson’s Motorcycle’s Brett Robertson.
After gaining the lead in moto one Mendham’s pace dropped as he succumbed to Robertson’s persistent attacks and surrendered his position in the final two motos. Mendham later claimed the 20-year age gap between the pair may have influenced the result, others suggested it was more of a case of who had the most intestinal fortitude.
The next MX meeting at Dubbo will be a practice day on August 22. Fifty dollars is the most it will cost for a day on the feature circuit of the Central West motocross scene, less if you have a race licence and are a member.
