Peter McCauley, a long-time farrier and trainer at Dubbo, has been enjoying success over recent weeks with his relatively small team.
At Coonamble the McCauley-trained Misstipytoes (James Geppert, $7.00) and Hot Bake Clarrie (Roly Saxton, $6.00) both won while Schwarzkopf took out the Foxxfoe Benchmark 50 Handicap (1200m) at Bathurst on Sunday.
Although Schwarzkopf started an outsider, the seven-year-old chestnut gelding did have some admirers in the betting ring, firming from $21.00 to $17.00.
Ridden by apprentice James Geppert, Schwarzkopf shared the lead with stablemate Finale Decree before kicking clear in the straight.
Schwarzkopf held on to beat the fast finishing Lay Down Sally (Clare Pettigrew, $5.00) by a neck with Danzmusic (Lane Moloney, $7.00) in third place.
Whenever Peter McCauley wins a race he likes to acknowledge the contribution of his wife Lauraine McCauley towards the success.
“I’m the official trainer, however, it is a team effort as my wife is such a wonderful help with the horses,” he said.

Formerly from Grenfell, Garry Frazer has carved out a successful career as a trainer at Hawkesbury.
He is also obviously a good teacher of apprentice jockeys.
Star young jockey Tye Angland who has tasted Group One success served his apprenticeship with Frazer.
At his debut ride Angland was thrown in the deep end and given the task of handling one of Frazer’s gallopers in an 1800m stayers race at Bathurst.
Angland at such a young age astounded veteran racegoers with his poise and judgement of pace to win the race.
Currently indentured to Frazer is Josh Adams, a grandson of the former great harness racing trainer-driver Merv Adams.
Adams is a rising star and midway through the current season has already ridden 48 winners including six in Sydney and along with Tye Angland is in the top 10 on the NSW jockeys premiership ladder.
At Bathurst on Sunday, Adams, like Angland before him, was legged aboard a Frazer-trained galloper, Mr Latar, in an 1800m race, the Cumulus Wines Benchmark 65 Handicap.
Given a nice run in fourth position, Mr Latar ($2.60, $2.50 fav) proved too strong for Voltabolta (Ben Vassallo, $5.00) and
The Khedive (Robyn Freeman, $6.00).
