Narromine trainer Kylie Kennedy has aborted plans to run her consistent performer Prince Jackorelli at Dubbo on Sunday, with the horse receiving treatment for a stone bruise.
Kennedy had the four-year-old nominated for the Benchmark 60 Handicap (1400m) but a slow response to treatment has forced her to miss the race, which she believed he would be competitive in.
Prince Jackorelli has had six starts for Kennedy since moving up from Victoria, winning one race and finishing second on four other occasions.
Two of those minor placings have been behind boom performer Izababe, which took its record to four wins and one second from five starts when it won at Narromine on Monday.
“I wish I had a stable full of horses like him,” Kennedy said.
“It’s a pity we have to miss the race at Dubbo on Sunday because I think it is a race he could have won.
“He’s been super since we brought him from Victoria and I think he will be even better next time in.”
If Prince Jackorelli can overcome the bruise in time, Kennedy said she intends to take the son of American stallion Bianconi to Bathurst for a 1400m event next Friday.
If he doesn’t, she may send the horse to the paddock for a well-earned spell.
“When he came to me he wasn’t in the best condition so we put him in the paddock and I reckon he put on about 100kg,” she said.
“He’s a big lump of a horse and he hasn’t been over-raced so if he needs to go to the paddock then I will do that and I think he will go through his grades next time in because he still has a bit to learn.”

Leading jockey Greg Ryan will return to racing after a brief let-up at Quirindi today.
He will also ride at Gilgandra tomorrow and then at the big Girls Day Out TAB meeting at Dubbo on Sunday.
Ryan and his wife Pauline had their daughter’s wedding recently and the opportunity to have a break was too good to refuse.
However, he was back on the golf course on Wednesday and is raring to go again.
Ryan is down for a number of rides at Gilgandra and will
obviously be worth following at Dubbo.
His mount today in the Quirindi Cup is Kwillas Law for Luke Griffith.

A big crowd is expected at Dubbo on Sunday with plenty happening for the ladies.
Mark Day and his committee have put together a varied and interesting program on and off the track.
The Ladies Day Out concept has been a winner since day one, it shouldn’t be any different this time.
The first race at Dubbo leaves the barriers at 1.35pm.
