Final field wary of being hustled

Final field wary of being hustled

28 Dec, 2009 03:00 AM
The Dubbo Greyhound Club has framed a huge 12-race card for tonight’s meeting at the Dawson Park circuit, which will be highlighted by the running of the Country Fresh Pet Food final.

Three heats of the Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Country Challenge will also be run over the 516 metres.

Talented young Dubbo sprinter Total Hustler has the perfect draw in tonight’s Country Fresh Pet Foods final to upstage some of his more experienced rivals at Dawson Park.

Total Hustler crept into the Final with a third placing behind likely race favourite Winmore Joe in 23.37 seconds when coming off the seven box, but tonight appears much better drawn in the two.

Prepared by Brocklehurst’s Leighton Winter, Total Hustler indicated he was well above average standard at his first race start with a slick 23.36s victory.

Winmore Joe has been going great guns for Amanda Ginn, winning three of his past four starts, and has been placed to perfection for this fifth grade heat and final, but will need to be right at his best to overcome an awkward box five kennel draw.

Heat two winner November Rock received few favours in the drawer coming up with seven while Coonamble sprinter and heat three winner Tearful Princess fared a tad better coming up with three.

One runner who could represent great value is Goolagong flyer Happy Feeling who rattled home for third in her heat and has drawn ideally in the one.

The winner of the final will receive $800 plus free service to Vesuvio, valued at $800, and will also receive the added bonus of $1000 if Blue Paws registered.

Heat one of the GRNSW Country Challenge sees the appearance of the well performed Mighty Albert in box seven.

Mighty Albert is the winner of 24 races from 47 starts with wins at Wentworth Park in 30.01s and Richmond in 30.68s among the highlights of his many victories.

Fancy Shelley from the strong Barnes kennel and local sprinter Total Class appear the main dangers.

The Simon Ma trained Tadmore Buckshot looks the main hope in heat two after drawing favourably in the red.

Tadmore Buckshot has won two of his past three starts including wins at the Gardens at Wenty (30.31s) with 14 wins overall.

The consistent Daddys Echo looks the likely danger

Exciting pup Smooth Fancy goes around in heat three and looks ideally placed in the two.

The Dennis Barnes sprinter was most impressive here two starts back accounting for a quality country line up to win easily and then ran a slick 30.86s at Richmond.

Main dangers would appear to be city winner Tadmore Lyndee and the speedy Miss Taro.

The GRNSW Country Challenge Final will be run next Saturday night and is worth $5000 to the winner.

The first of 12 races leaves the boxes at 7.15pm with kenneling from 5.45pm to 6.30pm.
