As though his twin brother Grahame hadn’t done enough, Peter Allan stepped out onto the Dubbo golf course on Wednesday and shot a remarkable round of 66.
Last Sunday it was Grahame Allan who won division one with a round of 67.
But on Wednesday golfers could have been forgiven for feeling a sense of déjà vu as Peter returned to the clubhouse, doing one better with a 66.
In fact Peter did two better on the net scores; playing off five handicap he scored 61, while Grahame played off four and finished with 63.
In more parallels, the pair will no doubt tee off close together towards the end of the field of 19 in their pet event the Raine & Horne Top Gun Shootout next month, which sees qualifiers teeing off in order based on the ranking of their best net score throughout the year.
Peter Allan won the division one medal sponsored by Geoff Richards Panel Beating on Wednesday by five shots from Steve Tracey, who shot 81 for 66.
However, his scratch score was a whopping eight shots better than Ben Amor, Anthony Kek and Dubbo Club Championship A Grade contender Joel Head, who all had 74.
Unfortunately for Allan, his great round was not consistent with his performances in the championships, apart from a trend of improvement, which have seen rounds of 84, 78 and 75 to be 24 shots of the pace on 237.
The championships will be decided with round four today and while the winner will most likely come from leader David Gleeson (213) or Head (214), it will be interesting to see if Peter continues to undercut the score from his most recent round.
Meanwhile on Wednesday Brett Harvey won division one with net 65 followed by Ted Adler on 66. Balls went to 69 on count back in division one and 71 on count back in division two.
Mick Dunn, who finished third with net 67 in A Grade, produced the best tee shot of the day, measuring 48cm on the 8th.
