Golfers struggle with soft surface

A big field of 73 members took to a very damp golf course for the monthly medal and first round of matchplay and conditions were that tough from the blue plates that only three members beat handicap. The sponsor on the day was Southern Steel. We had one visitor on the day, David Bell.

A-grade winners were; David Bell 83/71 from Bruce Simpson 82/73. In B-grade, 82/64 won the guzzlers mug for Robbie Dunn and Riger Hinton was runner up with 82/67. In C-grade Mick Andrews won on countback from Matt Piper both with 97/71.

The scratch winners were A-grade Bruce Simpson 82, B-grade Robbie Dunn won on countback with 82 and in C-grade Brian Ledsam had 92.

The ballcomp went down to nett 73 and included Hanlon Hyland, Robert Atkins, Steve Iverach, Donald Miller, Mark Parkinson,Max Hassan, Phil Wheeler, Robert Hargraves, Tim Hibbard, Richard Smith, Brian Ledsam and Brett Chippendale.

Nearest the pin winners 5th A-grade Hanlon Hyland 500cm, B-grade Robert Dunn 220cm, C-grade Greg Edwards 182cm. 8th Bruce Simpson 550cm, 11th Guy Naden 120cm, 15th Robert Atkins 700cm and the 18th Steve Iverach 550cm.

The weekly jackpot of $15 was won by Brett Chippendale as he was in the club house for presentation and the $100 monthly jackpot was won by Geordie Hyland as he played on the day. The $50 club was won by Peter McQuillan $40, Peter Sharrock $20 and Dean Ugliatti $10. The meat trays went to Donald Miller, Brett Chippendale, Ian Wheeler, Dave O’Brien, Craig Osborne, Ronert Atkins and Brian Munro.

This week we have the Fred Deveign Memorial 4BBB sponsored by Peter and Jake Sharrock with starters being Peter Cluff, Reg Pipe, Ian McGuinness and Ian Wheeler.

This Friday at 7.00pm at the RSL Club is the RSL Mens Social Golf Club AGM and we request that all members be there for the reading of the results from last year and the election of the office bearers for the ensuing year.
