Chris Gosper and Anne Keyte celebrated Melbourne Cup Day with a super win in the Dubbo ladies' 4BBB stableford event yesterday.
The winners came in with 42 points to take out the trophies donated by Patsy Wrigley and her daughter Amanda Greig.
The competition for balls was also keen with the winners being Nicki Wallace and Marie Roberts (41), Gai Morrison and Ruth Smith (41), Hela Bryan and Dinah Logan (40), Elaine Pusell and Elaine Pearson (39) and Pam Gleeson and Toni Brown (38).
Gosper and Keyte also won the pro shop balls while Ailsa Blowes won the nearest to the pin.
One of the features of the ladies' closing day on Thursday was the presentation of major trophies for the year.
One of them was the Kath McCullough Pointscore won by Bev McLennan.
Ms McCullough presents one of her paintings each year to be played for over six rounds throughout the season.
It was a very keenly contested competition and most sought after trophy by the ladies.
Kath has been presenting this trophy for more than 10 years and the ladies are very grateful to her for her generosity.
Thursday's closing day foursomes stroke competition was won by Eunice Fraser and Annette Clarke with 66-1/2 nett.
A field of 88 ladies took part, and the golf was followed by lunch and presentation of special trophies for 2004.
Congratulations to Lyn Jeffrey and Viv Lloyd who dominated the two divisions in the Saturday ladies championships.
Jeffrey finished with 196 from the two rounds to claim the Gai and Glenn Morrison Cup for the second successive year while in Division 2 Lloyd had the best score of 205.
This year's championships were sponsored by Michael Tierney of Michael's Hairdressing Salon in Church Street
and the ladies are indebted to him for his support.
In Saturday's final round of stroke play, Viv Lloyd came in with the best score of 65
nett and as a result won the trophy donated by Helen Jameson.
Ball winners were Gloria Shields (69), Elke Hoyermann (70) and Narelle White (76).
This weekend is an individual stableford event for Carmel Morley's trophy.
The ladies handicapper yesterday reported that three Saturday players - Viv Lloyd (33-30), Gloria Shields (27-26) and Elke Hoyerman (44-43) - have had their handicaps adjusted after weekend golf.
