Charity day at Dubbo golf club has ladies in the pink

05 Nov, 2009 04:00 AM
Last Thursday the Dubbo Lady Golfers held a Pink Day for their 18-hole stableford competition with money raised for cancer research.

The club was all pink with the day sponsored by breast cancer survivor Sue Orbell.

The winner was Margaret Rich and Jenny Rich won division two.

The best dressed was Margaret Nicholson.

Barbara Trethewey co-ordinated the raffles and the fundraising, with more money coming in from 14 girls who have been sponsored in the biggest loser.

They are being paid for each kilogram lost since May and it concludes on the Dubbo Ladies Presentation Day on November 12.

This has been co-ordinated by Jean Kelly who has lost a sister through breast cancer.

Also it was Betty Salter’s 80th birthday, which was celebrated with cake and a poem.

Betty usually pens the poem for other notable achievements, so she did one for herself.

It certainly made a few sit up and take it all on board, all in good camaraderie and club spirit.
