The Thunder Thru The Plains Series involves two events each in Gunnedah, Dubbo and Gilgandra.
Following the heat races, the top 12 highest point scorers split into two dash races, a last chance B-main qualifier, and a 30-lap feature race.
The first round of the series was scheduled to be held in Gunnedah two weeks ago, however wet conditions forced the events cancellation.
Wray has four years of experience in sprintcars, a Queensland feature championship and a rookie of the year title under his belt.
He is sponsored by Dubbo’s Brennan’s Mitre 10 and says he is excited to be racing at Dubbo on Saturday.
“I’m feeling pretty confident, it is always a challenge racing at a track you have never raced at before though,” Wray said.
“It is always exciting competing somewhere new and it’s a good chance to get away.”
However with a blown motor to fix before Friday, Wray said his biggest challenge this week would be having his car ready in time for Saturday’s race.
“My motor blew up on Saturday night and it has to be quickly rebuilt in time to leave on Friday,” he said.
“I’m a bit pushed for time but hopefully everything should be right in time.”
Before the race on Saturday night Wray will have his car on display at Brennan’s Mitre 10 from 10am to 2pm, where there will also bee a sausage sizzle operating and giveaways.
Wray said anyone who buys a sausage sandwich on the day will go into a raffle for a Makita TD020DSE Battery Impact Screwdriver.
Joining Wray on the track this weekend will be local drivers Mark Blyton and Jeremy Cross.
Other drivers include Mark Richards, Damien Abbott, Stuart Williams, David Craft, Glen Saville, Peter Johnson, Mick Matchett, Gavin Black, Jim Townsend, Matt Hinton, Anthony Barrie and teenage female racer Taylor Johnson.
