Latisha deals back-to-back wins

THE SIDEPOT: Back-to-back wins in the Dubbo RSL Monday night Australian Poker League (APL) competition has helped Latisha Naden jump to the front on the venue leaderboard.

After winning freeroll tournament the previous week Naden backed it up by again going through as the last chip-holder standing.

As a result, she went into the running for the weekly prize and drew the APL $50 fuel voucher.

All she has to do to redeem her prize is present this article to the tournament director at any of the local venues.

The win saw her jump to 471 points for the venue, one point clear of Lasita Smith (470) with the season entering its business end.

It has become a battle of the girls, but with four weeks to go can the two girls keep it up?

Peter Smith is also hot on the heels with 452 points.

Smith has been in good form this season and picked up a win at the Amaroo Hotel $11 chip-up add-on game on Sunday. He is also the current leader at the Amaroo Hotel on Thursday evenings, which was won last week by Daryl Manshanden.

Meanwhile Jennifer Paton won the weekly Tuesday night freeroll tournament at Dubbo RSL. Errol Toomey (506) currently holds a small lead over Matt Main (497) in what has become a two-horse race for the leaderboard boasting rights.

Wednesday saw Denvar Laurie pick up the win at Dubbo Railway’s freeroll game starting at 7pm, while Cherie Daniels (498) is already holding the leaderboard title firmly with both hands with a huge lead over her rivals.

The other weekly event in Dubbo, the lucrative $11 chip-up add-on 10-week series at Dubbo Golf Club on Saturday evenings, was won by last season’s overall winner of Saturday night competition, Jarrad Chapman.

Joe Ryan currently leads overall with 532 points while Warwick Burke sits in second on 501.

This Sunday is the first monthly $22 chip up add on tournament at the Amaroo with $3000 (minimum 65 players) to give away to the final table, with 1pm rego for a 2pm start.

This Friday night the $22 chip-up add-on tournament at Orange Ex-Services Club also boasts a prize pool over $3000. Rego at 6.30pm start 7.30pm.
