SHOOTING: Seven full-bore rifle shooters competed over 900 yards at the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range on Saturday and had to contend with a changing breeze from the north throughout the afternoon which was just enough to catch out several shooters.
At the end of the first stage the best scores were a pair of 48s from Scott Monaghan and Rob Rainbow.
The second stage saw the conditions improve and now Monaghan and David Brown both hit the lot to finish on 98 and 97 respectively.
Monaghan went on to win the A-grade Cock O’the Walk badge with a 98 off-rifle.
Rob Rainbow won the B-grade badge while Kevin Edwards was the C-grade winner.
The weekly handicap event went to David Brown who finished with a total score of 102.

Scott Monaghan 48/50, off-rifle 98, handicap 3, total 101; Rob Rainbow 48/46, o/r 94, hcp 7, total 101; David Brown 47/50, o/r 97, hcp 5, total 102; David Forster 47/49, o/r 96, hcp 3, total 99; Noel Thompson (retired); Kevin Edwards 36/46, o/r 82, hcp 10, total 92; Jim Barling 39/44, o/r 83, hcp 7, total 90.
Next Saturday, shooting is back to 1000 yards starting at 12.30 pm.
