Megan Dunn has finished the Jayco Bay Series Cycling Classic in third spot after again performing strongly on the last day of racing.
Dunn went into the last day in third spot overall but out of reach of series leader Rochelle Gilmore.
Gilmore completed her domination of the series with her third-stage win of the four-day series.
Her Honda team controlled the race at Williamstown with team-mate Peta Mullens finishing third while her friend Chloe Hosking took second place to finish second overall on 32 points, nine behind Gilmore.
Dunn, who was riding for Jayco VIC/NSW IS, finished on 24 points after adding six to her tally for her fourth-placed ride yesterday while Mullens also finished on 24 points.
Meanwhile Baden Cooke won the last stage of the men’s series with Greg Henderson second and Cooke’s Skilled/Lowe Farms team-mate Chris Sutton secured the overall series win in third place.
Dunn will now target Saturday’s Australian Road Championship in Ballarat before vying for Australia Commonwealth Games team selection at the Australian Track Cycling Championships in Adelaide in February.
“Megan is over the moon,” her father Neil Dunn said.
“Everyone is going hard and getting ready for the Commonwealth Games so this is a great result considering she’s predominantly been a track rider and came straight from the track events in Tasmania.”
Dunn won the 2008 Jayco Series Bay Cycling Classic as a virtually unknown 16-year-old before crashing out and breaking her collarbone at the 2009 series.
