RSL-Colts held on a thriller against CYMS Cougars in Dubbo second grade competition at Lady Cutler Oval on Saturday.
Colts score 9 for 216 in the first innings and looked in control with CYMS on 5 for 66. But captain Darryl Thompson (73), Kurt Ward (49) and Shaun Fitzpatrick (32) clawed back and in the end fell five runs short after needing to hit a six off the last ball.
For Colts openers Nathan Finlay (21) and Glen Gallagher (35) put on a 60-run partnership before Kieran Henry (82no) piled on the runs.
Ward (3 for 26 off 6 overs) and Fitzpatrick (3 for 37 off 8) also stood out with the ball but the CYMS bowlers were let down by several dropped catches.

South Dubbo claimed the points for the win in their evenly poised game against Newtown.
Newtown batted first and set a total of 145 that was held back by several players making starts but failing to go on with the job.
Peter Morrison (21), Mick Haley (15), Nick Barlow (23) and Don Skinner (25) helped ensure the ‘Townie Tigers reached the final over but wickets in hand were always an issue.
Andrew Cusack, Fred Walford, Adam Carr and Wayne Munro all took two wickets apiece for Souths.
In reply Souths had a similar issue of no one standing up and making a big score, but in the end had done enough with Allen Munro (33) and Adam Carr (30) laying the platform and Al Fernando (24no) and Fred Walford (14no) putting together an unbeaten 27-run stand for the seventh wicket to get the side home with four wickets in hand and six overs remaining.

Fourteen-year-old Jack Kempston made a promising second debut for Rugby at Lady Cutler 3 on Saturday displaying good, controlled leg-spin bowling.
Interestingly, the man who faced most of his deliveries was Macquarie captain Josh Tibbins, who works at the Pastoral Hotel for Jack’s father Michael Kempston.
Tibbins eventually fell to Kempston to be the last man out for 21 and giving the youngster handy figures of 2 for 9 off 4.3 overs.
Macquarie were always going to struggle with the majority of their regular side playing first grade and fielding just nine players in the second grade clash.
Brandon Tibbins top scored with 26 in the team’s total of 85, with Rugby’s Garry Goodman (3 for 17 off 8) proving a handful with the ball.
Rugby chased down the total four-down in the 21st over with Bligh Ridge top scoring on 35.
