IT WAS a red-letter day for the Reichelt boys at Lady Cutler on Saturday when Mark and Nathan played match-winning roles for Macquarie second grade in their handy win over Newtown.
Mark, the Blues captain, top scored for the side with 75 in their total of 225 and then Nathan ripped into the Newtown batting line-up taking 5-12 from eight overs with the new ball.
Macquarie batted out only 33.5 of their 40 overs but the contributions from Mark Reichelt and Oliver Hoare (62) were considerable.
Both didn’t waste any time with Reichelt finding the boundary eight times and added a six as well; while the younger Hoare hit five fours batting down at seven.
A feature was their sixth wicket partnership of 75 which lifted the Macquarie score from 5-112 after 24 overs to 6-187 at the 33 over mark. Others to make contributions were Tom Peacocke (21) and Justin Gavin (24).
Seven Macquarie bowlers were used with Andy Gardiner (3-49) and Garry Finlay (3-35) doing well.
The Newtown run chase started disastrously when Nathan Reichelt and Chad O’Brien claimed five wickets in the few overs and at 5-20 it was going to be a long haul. Graham Baker hung there long enough to make top score with 39 but the end came after 27 overs with the score at 101.
Reichelt’s 5-12 from eight overs, including three maidens, was a fabulous effort while O’Brien gave little away in his six overs for 1-23 and Tom Peacock picked up 2-17 including the prize wicket of Baker.

COLTS’ middle-order batting was up to the task to lay the foundations for a good win at the expense of CYMS Cougars at Lady Cutler 2.
After Ben Semmler (30) and Josh Smith (18) put on 35 for the opening wicket, Colts lost 4-13 to be 4-58 before Jakke Gardiner, Graeme Morton and Shane Groen took charge.
Gardiner was patient in his 33 while Morton made the top score of 46 with eight fours and a six and Groen’s 31 not out included four fours and a six.
The fifth-wicket stand of 75 from Morton and Gardiner came in 15 overs and really put the CYMS attack to the sword.
Colts finished their 40 overs with 7-178 in the bank but in reply the Cougars closed down at 8-127 from their 40.
Most successful of the CYMS bowlers was Josh Ware with 3-34 from six overs and Jarred Couley took 2-28 from seven while their experienced new ball bowlers Brian Carroll (1-25 from 8) and Warren Dodd Snr (0-25 from 8) were good but didn’t quite get the success they deserved.
Colts used seven bowlers to get the job done when CYMS batted and the Cougars were on top early when Scott Russell and Matt Tabbernor combined for an opening partnership of 62 from the first 16 overs. But they went downhill from there.
Russell made 14 and Tabbernor top scored with 34 but it wasn’t enough. The only concern for Colts was their 22 sundries which could have proved costly - 11 coming in wides, two no balls and nine byes.

RUGBY made the top score in second grade with 9-246 from 40 overs against Souths.
Garry Goodman finished with a top score of 69, helped along the way by Brett Paul with 46 and opener Dave Hey with 49.
The Souths’ bowlers tried hard, and Andrew Cusack with 3-35 from eight overs and Tom Mitchell’s 3-40 from eight, can be satisfied with their performances.
The Souths’ batting was a different situation however. Mick Fraser left his good shots on the golf course being out third ball for a duck and it only got worse.
Jason Blackford top scored with 39, sundries chipped in with 16 and Jeff Shanks got 15.
The Rugby bowlers shared the spoils with Bart Goodman enjoying his 3-23 and Alan Horrocks (2-30) and Garry Goodman (2-7) got into the act.
