Some of the best under-14 players in the Western Zone will be on show in a carnival being played over three days in Dubbo starting tomorrow.
Billed as the inaugural Western Allstars Carnival, four teams will be involved in the round robin tournament played at Lady Cutler complex.
Carnival co-ordinator Graeme Dyball, said the carnival will be important looking ahead to the new season of representative cricket.
“The carnival is being hosted by Macquarie Valley Cricket Council with the view to talent identification,” Dyball said.
“Originally associations (such as Bathurst, Orange, Parkes and Forbes) were invited from throughout Western Zone but unfortunately for a number of reasons the majority did not accept.
“Mudgee will be bringing a team and Cowra and Young have a combined team while Macquarie Valley has pieced together two teams from associations throughout the valley.
“What is important about this carnival is that it is not a representative carnival, but an invitational one for the purposes of talent identification.”
