Dubbo’s junior representative basketball teams will travel to Orange this weekend in a quest for the the title of Western Junior League champions.
This year’s campaign has been a very successful one for Dubbo with all teams, except for the under-18 women, making it through to the finals weekend.
For the first time, Dubbo will also have a under-14 women’s Division Two team competing for the division two title.
It’s expected to be a big weekend for the under-12 men’s side, who go into the finals in first spot with no loses from their three rounds.
They will play the second placed Lithgow Lazors in the preliminary final. Under coach Phil Morrow’s leadership the boys have a great chance of coming away with the trophy.
The under-14 men coached by Jordan Morrow go into the weekend in second place on the ladder.
They will come up against competition leaders Narrandera Knights.
If they are to play to their full potential, the boys have the ability to put it to the Knights and take out the competition.
Coach Max Ellis leads the under-16 men, a side who have had a great tournament, and are the team to beat this weekend.
Led by NSW State player Luke Anderson the team have put in good performances throughout the season and the odds are in their favour to top it off with a win on Sunday.
In the under-18, the boys will be looking to send off coach Nick Hubbard on a high note.
Hubbard will be finishing his time in Dubbo at the end of this season and the boys will be looking at putting things together on the court and come away with the win.
The boys have been unlucky this season with losses to teams by minimal margins, this is their last chance to show what they can do on the court.
The boys finished in second place and will play the leaders, Bathurst Goldminers, in what will be a tough game.
