Wellington man accused of more child porn charges laid

A Wellington man has been arrested and charged for child pornography offences by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

About 4pm on Wednesday, the 62-year-old was arrested by the AFP in conjunction with Wellington police for allegedly producing child pornography and breaching his bail offences.

“The accused was previously charged on March 12, 2009 at Wellington by the AFP in relation to possess child pornography offences,” senior sergeant Nik Kosseris said.

“This matter is set for sentence at the Wellington District Court on April 12. The accused has remained at the liberty of bail, residing in Wellington during this time.”

An ongoing investigation by the AFP has revealed the accused has further been identified for the offence of production of child pornography.

“As a result, the accused was arrested on Wednesday March 10,” sergeant Kosseris said.

After being arrested, the man was taken to Wellington Police Station and interviewed by the Australian Federal Police.

“The accused made no admissions to the offences, however investigations revealed the accused was in breach of his bail conditions by accessing a computer, contrary to his bail conditions.”
