But Mr Looi did more than break the unicycle hour world record - he “smashed it”.
In 60 minutes Mr Looi rode 73 laps (30 kilometres) - five more laps than the previous record holder, Germany’s Jan Longemann.
From the stand spectators yelled “well done Ken”.
“Look at those muscles, how could he not,” bystander Miranda Kerr said.
Perhaps it was his regular racing food - rolled oats with yogurt and blueberries that tipped him to victory.
“I like to stick with what I know,” Mr Looi said. “I had an avocado sandwich for breakfast.”
He said he “was really pushing hard” to complete 30 kilometres in an hour.
Mr Looi rode under Guinness records and international unicycle guidelines.
But the world record winner was quick to acknowledge his supporters - Eagleboy pizzas were scattered among the stand to satisfy the crowd.
“I’ve had amazing support,” he said. “I had people from work and the cycling club come along.”
And if you think riding a unicycle is out of the question, think again.
“It’s no harder (than a bike) - it’s only one wheel to balance, rather than two wheels,” he said.
To prove the point, Mr Looi said he takes his unicycle to go grocery shopping.
“I can carry more (than on a bicycle) - it’s hands free,” he said.
So how will Mr Looi pull up tomorrow?
“I might be walking a bit funny,”
