Dubbo residents may have to pay an extra $4 a year for their weekly rubbish pick up.
Dubbo City Council’s draft management plant proposes to increase the price to $141 a year.
Despite the increased cost a kerbside recycling service is not included.
Council’s civil infrastructure and solid waste manager Stephen Clayton said the kerbside recycling service was expected to begin mid next year.
“Subject to the acceptance of a tender, it is anticipated the successful tenderer will be engaged to gear up for the proposed recycling service to commence on July 1, 2010,” he said.
Until then, residents will have to continue to collect and dispose of their recycling themselves.
“All existing drop-off recycling centres are continuing as usual, as well as the annual green waste and bulky waste clean-ups,” Mr Clayton said.
The draft management plan also proposes to increase the rural weekly rubbish pick up charge by $3.75 to $90.
Mr Clayton said the increase reflected anticipated transport expense increases.
