Dubbo police are on the hunt for a man they allege “approached and inappropriately touched” a teenaged girl at Orana Mall.
Orana Local Area Command crime manager Detective Inspector Rod Blackman yesterday called for witnesses to the incident, which occurred about 3.30pm on Sunday, November 15, to come forward.
Det Insp Blackman said police also suspected the man was involved in a similar incident near the Woolworths Liquor Store about 4.30pm the next day.
They would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed that incident.
The man was described as about 50 years old, with a slim build and short stature.
In the case of the November 15 incident, he was wearing a multi-coloured Hawaiian-style shirt and dark baseball cap.
Anyone with information about either incident should contact Dubbo Police.
Meanwhile Det Insp Blackman said police would be keeping a close eye on cars and bars while Dubbo continues its November swelter.
Det Insp Blackman sought to remind parents of the dangers of leaving their children in their cars when it is hot.
“Temperatures can reach in excess of 70 degrees in a matter of minutes,” Det Insp Blackman said.
“Similarly, people with pets in or on vehicles are reminded to consider their comfort and health.
“Police and RSPCA inspectors will be enforcing the care of animals during this period.”
He was also keen to remind those seeking to beat the heat with a cold alcoholic beverage or two of their responsibilities.
“Despite the heat our people will be out conducting RBT (random breath testing) at all hours of the day and night,” Det Insp Blackman said.
“We maintain a zero tolerance to alcohol-fuelled anti-social behaviour.
“Stiff on-the-spot fines apply to persons failing to quit licensed premises, which includes being required to remain further than 50m away when asked to leave.
“People are hosting parties coming up to Christmas and the end of the school year. We encourage those people to register their party at the police station, with ‘Safe Party Packs’ being available at the station and a large amount of information available on ‘www.mynite.com.au’.”
