Emergency crews were called to an incident involving a caravan and a petrol bowser at the Caltex Star petrol station on Cobra Street yesterday morning.
According to Dubbo Fire Brigade Station Officer Jeremy Fewtrell, the car, towing a caravan trailer, collected the petrol bowser as it was pulling away.
Officer Fewtrell said staff were quick to react to the incident.
“They did the right thing by shutting the petrol station down,” he said.
Crews took extra caution to ensure any spilt fuel was treated.
“We could the smell fuel in the little pit underneath the petrol bowser,” Officer Fewtrell said.
“There was a small amount of fuel left in the line and the bowser and some had leaked so we covered a small area underneath and below the bowser with foam.”
Once the fuel was treated crews attempted to remove as much of the petrol bowser off the caravan as possible to allow for the driver to pull away.
“The owner was able to drive away,” Officer Fewtrell said.
“There was minimal damage to the caravan and substantial damage to the petrol bowser.”
