This week another sign on the St Brigid’s hall disappeared, like two others before it.
With a climb necessary to acquire the last one, prize co-ordinator Mike Coward has his fingers crossed that it will make the journey to The Scots College for a selected showing on October 23, 24 and 25.
He reckons it would take “Spiderman” to snatch the remaining sign, but hasn’t ruled out his presence in Dubbo.
“It may be that I’ll have to tell people that the Mortimore Art Prize is the one in the Brisbane Street hall with no signs on it,” Mr Coward said with a chuckle.
Not even repeated thefts can quell his delight as he prepares to count the People’s Choice votes that will provide one lucky entrant with $10,000 worth of furniture.
The “only major art prize in Australia that is a selling exhibition” has again this year boosted the art collections of prize admirers near and far.
St George Bank in Dubbo’s Macquarie Street will hold the prize “winning works” from October 28 to November 20 before they reappear at the Kiku Arts Gallery in Bungendore on November 26.
