A DUBBO man has escaped serious injury as his car was swept away in floodwaters on Old Mendooran Road.
This comes amid strong warnings from emergency authorities and Dubbo City Council to remain aware around the region.
The 21-year-old attempted to travel through Talbragar Crossing about 2.30pm on Monday when his Ford Falcon utility stalled.
He climbed out of the vehicle as it was washed downstream, before it became submerged off the crossing.
Orana Local Area Command police said the utility was unable to be recovered at this stage and would be attempted at a later time.
Council manager of works services Ian Bailey told the Daily Liberal on Friday that Old Mendooran Road had been one to watch.
“It’s at 50 millimetres now (Friday), but it’s likely to go up before it goes down and it might get as high as 300-400,” he said.
Police inquiries revealed water levels were reportedly showing a depth of 40 centimetres, and the crossing was sign posted as Road Closed.
Other roads that have been affected include Terraview Road, Mogriguy Road and Wrights Crossing at Coolbaggie Creek.
The police, council and State Emergency Services all urge motorists to always obey signs and warnings concerning flooded roads and crossings.
