Prominent Dubbo businessman Bruce Henderson has called for an end to malicious muck-raking about Macquarie Anglican Grammar School.
The chairman of the school council spoke out yesterday as rumours continued to circulate about an exodus of teachers.
Principal Geoffrey Fouracre has vigorously rejected suggestions of a staffing crisis, confirming a small number of teachers were leaving but stressing the departures were within the normal movements of any independent school.
Mr Henderson yesterday reinforced that message.
“There is no crisis whatsoever,’’ Mr Henderson told the Daily Liberal.
“The school council is very supportive of Mr Fouracre and the school. If people see advertisements for teaching positions they should not jump to conclusions.
“Teachers are like everyone else - from time to time they wish to move on to new challenges or for family reasons.
“People have got it very wrong if they think Macquarie Anglican Grammar School has problems.’’
Mr Henderson described the school as a “worthwhile alternative” for Dubbo Christian School, St John’s College and local public schools.
“Enrolments are increasing and economic stimulus money from the Federal Government has allowed the school to bring forward a number of projects,’’ he said.
“A $2million multi-purpose hall is going up and shade and landscaping is progressing. Australian Technical College is seeking to put a $3million building on our site and we are working with St John’s College about a major leap forward for hospitality students.’’
