Growing your mo for health

21 Nov, 2009 04:00 AM
Guy Turner was encouraged by the boys on his football team to grow a mo for men’s health.

Last year when the Rhinos rugby boys decided to give it a go, Mr Turner said he was away so this year he’d thought he join in.

“Being a man I think it is important to raise more awareness about men’s health,” he said.

“Since the Movember campaign came about I think it has started to get a lot more attention.”

Movember is an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men.

Mo Bros, supported by their Mo Sistas, start Movember (November 1st) clean shaven and then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache.

Although he doesn’t particularly like his mo he said it was going along okay.

“I get teased quite a bit and have been given a lot of new nick names, “he said.

“Mario is one if them.

“I definitely won’t be keeping it once the month is up.”

So far Mr Turner has raised a small amount of money but said he was hoping to get some more in.

The Daily Liberal, in conjunction with the Milestone Hotel, will be hosting a Movember party at the Milestone on November 28.

All mo bros and mo sisters, a woman who loves a mo and wants to support the efforts of a mo bro in their life, are invited to go along.

By simply rocking up and registering your mo by 6pm on the night you could be in the running to win some great prizes.

Plus it’ll help to raise more money for the Movember cause.
